Team ownership said the changes are intended to celebrate the state’s rich mix of communities while generating excitement around the franchise.
“This is about connecting with all of our fans, old and new,” said team spokesperson Greg Jorgensen. “We want everyone in Minnesota to feel represented and excited to cheer for our team. Our new mascot, Walid the Pirate, replaces Viktor the Viking, and we think fans will love the energy he brings.”
Along with the mascot update, the team announced refreshed merchandise and a redesigned logo, aiming to create a more inclusive and modern identity.
Fans can expect updated pre-game traditions, including new anthems and celebrations to highlight the team’s commitment to diversity and community engagement.
“The goal is to make our stadium a welcoming and fun place for everyone,” Jorgensen added. “We can’t wait to see how our fans respond to the new look.”
