Skeleton strip show rattles neighbors, sparks debate over Halloween decor
MINNEOLA, Fla. (CBS12) — A Florida homeowner’s front porch has sparked a lively neighborhood debate after featuring a skeleton-themed display some are calling risqué.
According to ClickOrlando, the Minneola home’s setup includes skeletons smoking cigars, drinking beer, and even posing on a pole—an arrangement that has some neighbors rattled.
A reporter visiting the scene spoke with a neighbor who sees the display as harmless fun.
“I have two kids, and they like to see the skeletons dancing,” said Gabriela, who lives next door. “No problem for us.”
However, the neighborhood’s social media page has become a forum for debate over whether the display is appropriate for children walking to school. ClickOrlando noted complaints from some residents, including one who wrote, “I don’t see stripping as art. Whether it’s skeletons or cartoons, I wouldn’t want my kids exposed to that stuff.”
Others defended the display. “If you want to see it as sexual, that’s your take,” one commenter wrote. “Does it show the skeleton removing clothes? How do you know if it’s a female or a male skeleton?”
One concerned resident reportedly brought the issue to the Homeowners Association, which replied that there’s nothing they can do. Halloween decorations, they said, are permitted. The HOA suggested that anyone offended simply wait until Halloween ends and the display is taken down.
