Over 150 Hamas prisoners were recently seen enjoying luxury accommodations at a five-star hotel in Egypt following their release under President Trump’s Gaza peace deal — though they have now reportedly left the upscale digs.

The Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel in Cairo hosted 154 militants freed from Israeli prisons during the early stages of President Trump’s landmark 20-point Gaza agreement, the Daily Mail reported. During their stay, the ex-prisoners were photographed sipping cappuccinos, enjoying fine dining, and taking advantage of the hotel’s amenities. Marriott officials confirmed to the Times of Israel that the group had departed as of Saturday.

Among the released militants, many attended the wedding of Akram Abu Bakr, who has been linked to multiple shootings and bombings, according to the Daily Mail. Other freed prisoners were convicted of high-profile acts of violence, including:

  • Mahmoud Issa, 57, imprisoned since 1993 for the abduction and murder of border police officer Nissim Toledano.

  • Samir Abu Nima, 64, jailed in 1983 for a bus bombing in Jerusalem that killed six people, including an 11-year-old boy.

  • Muhammad Zawahara, 52, involved in a deadly 2024 shooting near a Jerusalem checkpoint.

While at the hotel, the militants mingled with other guests, many of whom were reportedly unaware of their backgrounds. During Abu Bakr’s wedding on October 18, a Christian couple was also celebrating in a nearby room, with ABBA’s “Dancing Queen” playing as the terrorists took family photos.

“These men are terrorists, convicted of bombing buses, murdering students, and kidnapping teenagers,” David Mencer of Israel’s Prime Minister’s office told the Daily Mail. “Israel freed them not to reward evil but because we value human life above all. A bitter price, but one our people have paid across the ages to reclaim kin from the hand of Jew-haters.”

Under the Gaza cease-fire and hostage release agreement, Israel freed over 2,000 security prisoners, including 250 serving life sentences for deadly attacks, in exchange for all living Israeli captives and the remains of slain hostages still held by Hamas. The terror group has yet to return all the bodies.
