On Monday, former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to deliver a stark warning to the Venezuelan government, accusing it of sending criminals and individuals from psychiatric institutions into the United States. The comments came a day after Trump attended a memorial service for conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“We want Venezuela to immediately accept all of the prisoners, and people from mental institutions, which includes the worst in the world, that Venezuelan leadership has forced into the United States,” Trump wrote. “Thousands of people have been badly hurt, and even killed, by these ‘monsters.’ Get them the hell out of our country, right now, or the price you pay will be incalculable!”

Trump has previously alleged that Venezuela, under the leadership of President Nicolás Maduro, has deliberately released criminals and others into the U.S. — a claim that Venezuelan officials have denied.
WATCH:
Tensions between the U.S. and Venezuela have been increasing in recent months. Earlier this month, the Pentagon confirmed that two Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets flew near the USS Jason Dunham, a U.S. Navy destroyer conducting operations near the Venezuelan coast as part of anti-drug trafficking efforts. The U.S. Navy has been actively targeting smuggling routes used by cartels allegedly operating out of Venezuela.
Trump has suggested that he would support more aggressive actions against drug cartels, potentially including operations inside Venezuela. This has fueled speculation about rising tensions between the two countries, even as the U.S. military remains heavily committed in other parts of the world.
In a lighter moment on Monday, Trump shared a satirical video on Truth Social that appeared to mock Venezuela’s military readiness. The clip showed individuals in red shirts participating in what was described as militia training. “TOP SECRET: We caught the Venezuelan Militia in training. A very serious threat!” Trump joked.
While clearly intended as humor, the post reflects the ongoing political rhetoric surrounding U.S.-Venezuela relations and Trump’s broader approach to foreign policy, especially regarding immigration and national security.
