Former President Joe Biden raised concern over Labor Day weekend after he was seen with a visible wound on his forehead while greeting people in Delaware.
Footage shared on social media showed the 82-year-old leaving a church in Rehoboth Beach with a red mark across the front of his head, partially covered by his white hair. The video was captured by Fred Karger, who told Inside Edition, “I was a little surprised because it’s a noticeable scar… It looks fresh, a little hair combed over it. It looks to me like someone who had several basal cells, skin cancers removed from his head.”
Biden’s representatives later confirmed he had recently undergone Mohs surgery, a common procedure used to remove skin cancer. The Mayo Clinic describes the treatment as a method that removes cancerous skin cells in thin layers while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible.
Although the exact date of the surgery remains unclear, Biden was previously seen wearing a bandage on his head in late August while attending the funeral of former Delaware Governor and Congressman Mike Castle at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church in Greenville.
This isn’t the first time Biden has been treated for skin cancer. In February 2023, a lesion removed from his chest was confirmed to be basal cell carcinoma. In addition, he was diagnosed in May with an advanced form of prostate cancer that has since metastasized to his bones, according to medical reports.
The diagnosis came after doctors discovered a small nodule and other cancer cells during a medical exam—resulting in a Stage 4 classification that had reportedly gone undetected by his White House medical team. Despite the diagnosis, Biden’s physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, declared him “fit to serve” in February 2024 following a routine exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
The revelation of his condition has prompted scrutiny, with critics alleging that members of Biden’s inner circle may have downplayed or concealed his health issues during his time in office. He is currently undergoing treatment for the cancer.
