Mother of Transgender Minneapolis Mass Shooter Robin Westman Appears to Have Fled and Is Not Cooperating with Police… and Retained a Criminal Defense Attorney
The mother of Robin Westman, the individual identified as the perpetrator of the recent mass shooting at a Minneapolis Catholic school, is reportedly not cooperating with police, according to authorities.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara stated on Thursday that investigators have been unable to reach or speak with Mary Grace Westman, the mother of the 23-year-old shooter. Robin Westman, who was transgender, died following the attack, which left at least two children dead and injured 14 others, including both children and adults. The shooting took place during a mass at Annunciation Catholic School.
Westman was armed with a rifle, a shotgun, and a handgun, police said. The FBI is now investigating the incident as a possible domestic terrorism and hate crime case targeting Catholics.

Court documents obtained by Fox News reveal that in 2020, Mary Grace Westman filed for and was granted a legal name change for her child from Robert to Robin when the shooter was 17 years old, citing that the minor identified as female.
A journal entry attributed to Westman, published by the New York Post, described personal struggles with gender identity. “I am tired of being trans, I wish I never brain-washed myself,” the entry reportedly read.
Attorney Ryan Garry, who is representing Mary Grace Westman, told Fox News that his client is “completely distraught about the situation” and maintains she has no legal responsibility for her child’s actions. He added that she retained legal counsel to handle media and law enforcement inquiries. When asked why police have been unable to speak with her, Garry declined to comment further.
