DC woman goes viral after sharing she feels ‘more safe than ever’ in capital after ‘Trump’s law’

A Washington, D.C., resident has gone viral on TikTok after expressing support for former President Donald Trump’s recent crackdown on crime in the nation’s capital.

In a widely shared video, user @bigdawglexi, who identifies as a Maryland-based nail technician, shared her feelings of increased safety in the city. “Finally able to chill at a red light with my windows down, not worried,” she said in a nighttime video recorded inside her car. “Riding through the city, feeling more safe than I ever felt.”

In a follow-up video, she described the atmosphere in D.C. as “real quiet,” adding that it had become “real livable” since what she referred to as “Trump’s Law” was enacted.

The videos quickly gained traction, with many users in the comments expressing support. “Good people need to be safe where they live!” one commenter wrote. Another added, “Sad part is when they leave it’s just gonna go back to how it was.”

The viral reaction follows the Trump administration’s decision earlier this week to deploy 1,000 National Guard troops to D.C. in response to rising crime. The move, which included assuming emergency control over the city’s police force, marks the first time a president has exercised such authority since the passage of the Home Rule Act in 1973.

Since the operation began, more than 100 arrests have been made for a variety of charges, including homicide, gun and drug offenses, reckless driving, and stalking, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Armored vehicles and uniformed troops have been seen at major intersections, government buildings, and popular tourist areas.

In one high-profile incident, a Justice Department employee was arrested after allegedly throwing a Subway sandwich at a law enforcement officer. The suspect, Sean Charles Dunn, was charged with felony assault and subsequently fired after video of the altercation went viral.

Photos from the city this week have shown barricades being erected near federal buildings and officers posing for pictures with tourists.
