How to make a tuna melt like Drew Barrymore
Ingredients:
- 1 can (5 oz.) tuna, drained
- 2 Tbs. mayonnaise
- 1 tsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 Tbs. diced celery (optional, for crunch)
- 1 Tbs. diced red onion
- 1/2 tsp. lemon juice
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 slices of sturdy bread (sourdough, rye or whole wheat)
- 2 slices of cheese (cheddar, Swiss or American)
- 1 Tbs. butter
Directions:
- In a small bowl, mix together the tuna, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, celery, red onion, lemon juice, salt and black pepper.
- Spread the tuna mixture evenly onto one slice of bread, then layer with cheese. Top with the second slice of bread.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat, then and add butter.
- Place the sandwich in the pan and cook for about three to four minutes per side, pressing down lightly with a spatula, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice in half and serve warm.
