SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — On Nov. 5, there’s more at stake in this country than the fate of democracy. An epic election night presidential food battle between Kamala Harris’ cornbread dressing and Donald Trump’s beloved Mar-A-Lago turkey burgers will surely be an election night conversation starter.
If you have friends and/or family members who will hunker down on election night and watch the election results with you, they will undoubtedly get hungry.
In 2022, our mid-term election recipe ideas included Jackie and John F. Kennedy’s waffles, Jimmy Carter’s peanut butter pie, Barack Obama’s chili, Ronald Reagan’s mac & cheese, the Bush family’s deviled eggs, and Bill Clinton’s chocolate chip cookies. But if you missed the article, do not despair. You can still read it in the link below.
But if you want recipes custom-fitted to the 2024 presidential election, keep reading.
The Commander in Chef
Kamala Harris’ cornbread dressing and Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago turkey burgers are the perfect recipes to serve on election night in November. So for a few hours on election day, before the results begin pouring in, forget about the same-ole’-same-ole’ political “debates” that have been disgruntling Americans for generations and start bickering over which of these presidential candidates’ recipes should earn them the title of Commander-in-Chef of the United States.
For a fun twist, make both recipes and let your guests know you’re serving one from Mar-a-Lago and one from Harris’ kitchen. But don’t tell them which is which! You can ask your guests to vote with their forks to determine our next commander-in-chef and tell them the results after dinner.
Try not to giggle too hard when your pro-Trump friend accidentally picks Harris’ recipe or vice versa.
Then again, life is short, and laughter is a superb way to dissolve political tension.
