A Florida Amazon delivery driver has died after being found unresponsive inside her van, prompting an active investigation by local authorities.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was discovered in Lake County early Monday morning, August 10, at approximately 7:22 a.m. Emergency crews transported her to a nearby hospital and attempted life‑saving measures, but she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Deputies from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office responded following a non‑emergency call reporting suspicious activity involving the parked delivery van. A neighbor contacted authorities after noticing the vehicle had remained in the same spot for several hours.
“I’m just looking to report a wellness check, I guess? Or to report an abandoned vehicle,” the neighbor told dispatchers.
When deputies arrived with Lake County Fire Rescue and medical personnel, they found the driver unresponsive inside the van. First responders removed her from the vehicle and rushed her to the hospital, where she later died.
Officials have not released a cause of death, and investigators are still working to determine what led to the incident.
Witness Describes Emergency Response
Neighbor Patrick Miranda said he saw an officer pull the driver from the van and noticed concerns about the conditions inside the vehicle.
“The male officer that pulled her out began coughing for some reason,” Miranda said. “Once they were worried about fumes inside the vehicle, they pulled her further away and then fire used a hose to rinse down the person.”
Authorities have not confirmed whether fumes or any other substance contributed to the woman’s death. They have only stated that she was “unresponsive” when deputies arrived.
Amazon Issues Statement
Amazon acknowledged the incident in a statement to local outlet WESH 2, saying: “We’re deeply saddened by this tragic incident, and our thoughts and prayers are with the driver’s loved ones during this difficult time. We’re cooperating fully with local authorities in their investigation.”
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says the case remains open, and additional details will be released as investigators learn more.
