Life behind bars awaits two guys from Florida who murdered a firefighter working elsewhere just to grab his phone, shoes, money.
Afterward came cheers between them – high-fives almost – because they’d “scored a kill,” according to someone who noticed grins on their faces talking about it
Life means no chance of release,” stated the judge while addressing the courtroom Wednesday. Clear agreement came from the jury about what each man did. Torrey Holston and Jose Garcia Romero heard the words without reaction.
The conviction happened back in May. One took part, then the other followed through. Prison for both is now certain.
Fresh out of their teens, Holston was nineteen while Garcia Romero had just turned twenty when gunfire ended the life of Coral Springs-Parkland firefighter Christopher Randazzo.
The incident unfolded near a seaside resort in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, events now seven years behind us.
One morning in May, the pair faced court over a fatal theft from years before. Papers seen by Law&Crime show what happened when the younger suspects attacked Randazzo, leaving him lying without footwear.
He was thirty-nine, worked as both firefighter and paramedic, city sources confirmed. Their target? A pair of red Nikes, an iPhone, a wallet holding fifty-five dollars. The man’s set of car keys vanished too.
