‘I Said What I Said’: Texas Parole Supervisor Fired Over Karmelo Anthony Post, as Real Estate Agent Deletes Page Over Meme Mocking the Teen

A Texas parole supervisor has lost her job after making a social media post supporting Karmelo Anthony. Donna Robinson was terminated by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) on Friday, according to the Dallas Morning News. She had been with the agency for over ten years.

The post, obtained by Atlanta Black Star, was a response to a comment about Anthony’s well-being. Anthony, then 17, was convicted last year in the killing of Austin Metcalf, also 17, during a high school track meet.

Robinson identified herself as a TDCJ Parole Supervisor and stated, “Karmelo will be OK,” asserting he would be safeguarded during his 35-year sentence. She expressed strong views about the case, writing, “I for one don’t give fk about the family’s loss,” referring to Metcalf’s family. “It’s about time these fking bigots feel the pain that they have inflicted on other groups of people since the beginning of time!”

She added that she was relieved the outcome didn’t involve “having to bury another Black child,” and wrote, “Let them start burying some of theirs for a change. FK’em I said what I said.”

TDCJ acted quickly after the post surfaced. “TDCJ employment carries significant public trust and requires decisions free from personal bias,” the agency stated. “These statements are incompatible with TDCJ policy and values. They demonstrate bias and a lack of the impartiality essential to the fair administration of justice in Texas.”

The case has drawn attention amid racial tensions—Anthony is Black, and Metcalf was white. But criticism isn’t limited to Anthony’s supporters. Misty Spradlin, a real estate agent from Corsicana, Texas, faced backlash for a mocking post featuring Anthony’s mugshot.

Spradlin altered the image to resemble a “first day of school” photo, replacing a school bus with a white prison transport van on a chalkboard. The edit listed Anthony’s supposed favorites: stabbing as a hobby, orange as his color, and rapper Tay-K as his music. A quote attributed to him read, “I want to get out of prison before I’m 70,” and a banner declared “Happy Guilty Day.”

Both Spradlin and Robinson appear to have deleted their social media profiles. Spradlin’s contact information is no longer available online. While realtor.com lists her as affiliated with Premier Realty, Atlanta Black Star contacted the company and was told no one by that name worked there.
