A Nevada woman has been sentenced to 25 to 70 years in prison for killing her three roommates in 2017.
Christine Sanchez, 56, pleaded guilty in April 2026 to three counts of murder with a deadly weapon in connection with the shooting deaths of Cardell Jones, 34, Natasha Henry, 43, and Stanley Herring Jr., 39.
At her Thursday, June 4 sentencing, Sanchez told District Judge Tierra Jones that she feared for her life at the time of the shooting.
“Your honor, due to the lifestyle I was living at the time and my interactions with the victims, I’d like you to know I was in fear for my life and the life of my loved ones,” she said, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. “That may not be justified, that may not justify my actions, but as a single mother, it is what I felt was necessary at the time.”
Officers responded to reports of multiple people shot at a residence in the 4300 block of Del Santos Drive on Dec. 22, 2017, in Las Vegas. When they arrived, they discovered the bodies of Jones, Henry and Herring Jr., per authorities.
According to police, the shooting occurred after the roommates got into an argument with Sanchez, KCRA reported.
Prosecutors said Jones was shot first multiple times, followed by Herring. Sanchez then reloaded the weapon and shot Henry in a bedroom, the Review-Journal reported, citing court filings.
Herring’s mother, June Griffin, said she would never find closure.
“No matter how much money is spent, no matter what is said or what is done, it’s not going to give me closure,” she said, per the outlet. “It’s not going to bring my son back.”
The Las Vegas Sun reported that Sanchez was previously indicted in 2015 in connection with the death of a Las Vegas woman found shot and stabbed in her apartment. However, the case was dismissed due to insufficient evidence.
Sanchez’s attorney could not be reached for comment.
