An infant was left alone in a stroller in the busy Times Square area late Tuesday night, according to police. The child, described in reports as being between about 6 months and 1 year old, was found shortly after 11 p.m. near the intersection of West 44th Street and Broadway. Authorities said the girl did not appear injured and was transported to a hospital as a precaution.

Investigators say security footage shows a man wearing jeans and a dark jacket pushing the stroller to that location before walking off and leaving it behind. Some law enforcement sources indicated the child’s parents may have had a dispute earlier on a No. 7 train and separated before the incident occurred.

Officials have not publicly identified any suspects or confirmed the identities of the parents. However, police have reportedly made contact with the child’s mother. The city’s Administration for Children’s Services has not provided any public comment on the situation.

Police are asking anyone who may have information to reach out to the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
