A Denver pro bowler says someone committed a weighty crime: stealing 17 bowling balls that he had temporarily placed on his front porch last week. Steven Gallegos told KDVR he left the balls—about 255 pounds of equipment worth roughly $4,500—outside overnight while preparing to move them into another vehicle. By morning, the bags containing the balls were gone.

Gallegos said he initially thought it might be a prank, noting that many of the balls wouldn’t even fit in a small vehicle. But he soon realized his entire tournament arsenal had disappeared. Each ball was designed for specific lane conditions, giving him a strategic edge during competitions.

“That’s the competitive advantage that I have, but with that being gone now, I’m just back to being a normal bowler,” he said.

Forced to compete with only a few backup balls on Sunday, Gallegos finished ninth. He doubts the equipment will be recovered but has alerted neighbors and is sharing a warning for others: “People will take anything in this day and age … don’t get lazy like I did.”
