A hidden camera captured a Southern California couple’s roommate allegedly spraying their food with toxic insect repellent.

The shocking footage reportedly shows the roommate — identified by the couple as Timothy Bradbury, with whom they shared a Santa Clarita Valley home — wearing a gas mask while spraying groceries, a bowl of fruit, and the pantry, according to KTLA. Soon after, the couple began experiencing mysterious illnesses.

“We were feeling funny and went to the hospital… I have liver damage, and she’s had health issues on top of the ones she already has,” David Sonhopper told KTLA. “We weren’t really sure what it was … we got blood tests done and everything.”

Doctors later informed the couple that their symptoms were consistent with poisoning. Reviewing months-old footage, they allegedly saw Bradbury spraying their food again.

“We all have our own section of the house, and then we share the kitchen,” Billy Sonhopper said.

The couple also claimed Bradbury had broken into their room, damaged their clothing, and stolen medication, IDs, and other personal items during his time in the house.

“He’s a psycho,” David added.

Authorities responded to the home Tuesday night and found Bradbury barricaded inside, leading to a standoff that lasted several hours before law enforcement was able to get him to surrender. Bradbury was reportedly charged with a misdemeanor by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and released.

Feeling unsafe in their own home, the couple is now renting an Airbnb.
