A well-known Mexican model on OnlyFans and Instagram has pushed back against viral online claims that she was romantically linked to one of Mexico’s most feared cartel leaders — and that she inadvertently helped authorities track him down.
María Julissa said she was falsely identified on social media as the girlfriend of Nemesio “El Mencho” Oseguera Cervantes, head of the New Generation Jalisco Cartel (CJNG). The rumors spread widely after officials disclosed that investigators located the cartel boss by following one of his romantic partners to a remote compound.
“I want to make it absolutely clear: I have nothing to do with that situation,” Julissa wrote to her 3.5 million followers on Instagram. Mexican authorities have never revealed the identity of the woman involved, and it remains unclear why Julissa became the focus of the unverified allegations.
Despite the absence of evidence, numerous posts circulated online claiming she was connected to the slain cartel leader. “The information going around is false and lacks foundation,” she added, urging people to rely on official sources rather than “fake news.”
Her denial followed comments from Mexico’s defense secretary, Ricardo Trevilla, who said intelligence agents traced a man associated with Oseguera’s girlfriend. Surveillance revealed the woman had traveled to Tapalpa, a mountain resort area in Jalisco where Oseguera and armed associates were hiding.
After the woman left the property, Mexican special forces moved in. Gunmen loyal to Oseguera opened fire, and he and several others were killed during the confrontation, according to officials.
Oseguera had previously been married to Rosalinda González Valencia; the couple separated in 2018. She was released from prison last year after serving two years for money-laundering offenses.
Authorities say the cartel responded violently to Oseguera’s death, launching attacks across Jalisco and other parts of Mexico. More than 70 people were killed in the aftermath, including 25 members of the country’s National Guard.
