A shocking daytime assault was caught on camera in Fulton Market, where two masked attackers robbed and beat a 49-year-old man on a sidewalk Thursday afternoon.

Video of the incident shows the victim lying on the ground as one suspect stands over him, pointing a handgun at his head. Meanwhile, the second suspect grabs the man’s belongings. The pair then flee the scene, reportedly getting into a Range Rover before driving off, according to Fox 32 Chicago.

Police said the robbery happened around 4:23 p.m. near the 200 block of North Peoria Street. Investigators believe two male suspects approached the man, with one allegedly brandishing a firearm and demanding his property while the other physically assaulted him.

After taking the victim’s belongings, the suspects escaped and remain at large as authorities continue searching for them.

Local business owners in the bustling neighborhood are urging increased police patrols and the addition of surveillance cameras to help deter future crimes. The area, known for its restaurants and nightlife, has faced ongoing concerns about armed robberies and break-ins.

In a statement reported by Fox 32, he said he was thankful the victim did not suffer serious injuries. Burnett added that he has spoken with 12th District Commander James Baier, who is aware of the case and plans to increase police presence in the area.
