Husband of animal rescue worker says 21 pets is too many

DEAR ABBY: My wife, “Muriel,” and I have been together for 10 years and married for seven. She has spent much of her life working in animal rescue and feels personally responsible for saving every animal she encounters. No matter how clearly I explain the financial strain and other consequences, it doesn’t seem to register.

At the moment, we have 21 pets living in our home. I’ve tried to find support groups or resources that might help us navigate this situation, but I haven’t had any luck. Even if I did find one, my wife refuses to acknowledge that there’s a problem. I’m at a loss. Can you help?
