A cardboard box filled with official NYPD uniforms was discovered near a Brooklyn cemetery, police said Sunday.

The unusual find was reported to authorities around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday on an industrial street in Borough Park, located between Green-Wood Cemetery and an MTA train yard, an NYPD spokesperson told The Post.

Cops sifted through the discarded box – containing pants, shirts, jackets and even hats – at the corner of 37th Street and Ninth Avenue Tuesday night, according to a video posted to X on Jan. 1.

Officers inspected the discarded box—which contained pants, shirts, jackets, and hats—at the corner of 37th Street and Ninth Avenue Tuesday night, according to a video shared on X on Jan. 1. The box was later transported to the nearest precinct, nearly two miles away on 16th Avenue, for “safekeeping,” the spokesperson said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing. The discovery came less than 48 hours before Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration in Manhattan.

Some social media users speculated that the box might be linked to Mamdani’s swearing-in, though no evidence currently supports that connection. Mamdani has previously been a vocal critic of the NYPD, calling for defunding the department during the 2020 Black Lives Matter protests and describing officers as “racist” and “anti-queer.”
