A mischievous monkey that caused damage at a Morristown, Tennessee, guitar shop is now in police custody after an hours-long chase.
The furry troublemaker — a Cinnamon Capuchin, native to Central and South America — was spotted Sunday wreaking havoc inside Trade Center Music. Security footage released by police shows the little primate leaning over a guitar stand and peering into a glass case full of effects pedals, while a Fender Stratocaster and other instruments sat nearby.
The shop’s owners called police around 8 a.m., prompting a search of the surrounding area. Authorities asked the public to report any sightings, and by Sunday evening, the monkey had been captured. While details of the capture remain unclear, police were seen transporting a large animal crate over a chain-link fence in a residential yard, 10News reported.
Officials believe the monkey was stolen from an Alabama farm and sold to a Tennessee woman, though how it escaped remains unknown. The animal’s original owner was notified of its discovery and antics by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
