Delaware man calls police to retrieve belongings after stolen car was towed: police
NEW CASTLE — A stolen car investigation in Delaware ended with an unusual twist when authorities say the suspect called police on himself.
Kayonne Baxter, 21, has been charged with felony vehicle theft after police say he admitted to taking a Hyundai Sonata that had been left running and unattended.
According to police, the car was stolen Tuesday from Fairway Road in Hunters Crossing. The following day, Baxter contacted authorities, claiming responsibility for the theft. He told police the vehicle had been towed and that he wanted to retrieve personal items he left inside.
Baxter was arrested without incident on the same street where the Hyundai was initially taken. The car was recovered from a local towing company.
Baxter was arraigned on the felony charge and later released.
