AITA if I take my uneaten potluck leftovers back home?

AITA if I take my uneaten potluck leftovers back home?

Dear Abby,

When I bring a dish to a potluck, I’ve always assumed that any leftovers stay with the host unless they’re specifically offered for guests to take home.

However, there are often so many dishes that some contributions barely get touched. I put time and money into preparing my food, and I hate to see it go to waste. Would it be strange, rude, or socially inappropriate to ask if I can take my dish home with me if it’s nonperishable?
