A new U.S. Senate report claims that the Biden administration directly ordered airports around the country to house large numbers of migrants during the height of the border surge — a move investigators say created serious security and public-safety risks.

Many Americans remember when major airports began to resemble makeshift shelters as the border crisis intensified. According to the Senate Commerce Committee’s findings, this wasn’t an accident or a local decision — it was driven by directives from the Biden White House, which the report says ignored repeated warnings about safety, security, and public health.

Despite this, members of the Biden administration — along with various Democratic officials and media allies — insisted at the time that the border was secure and that concerns over the situation were exaggerated.

The New York Post reports that the 47-page Senate investigation, titled “Flight Risk,” concludes that the administration’s decisions ultimately made air travel less safe. Investigators say the government allowed migrants with incomplete vetting to travel throughout the country and diverted federal air marshals away from airports to help manage the border situation.

According to the report, at least 11 major airports — including Chicago O’Hare, JFK in New York, and Boston Logan — were pressured to temporarily house hundreds of migrants in terminals, auxiliary structures, and even aircraft hangars.

Critics argue that accountability is overdue. They say the administration knowingly placed political priorities ahead of national security and public health, contributing to widespread strain on local communities and transportation infrastructure.
