If you don’t respect nature, it won’t respect you. That lesson was delivered in no uncertain terms to a pair of tourists at Yellowstone National Park, and yes—someone caught it all on camera.
Did you know tracks and scat aren’t the only signs of wildlife you can find in the park? Bison and other wildlife rub trees for a variety of reasons – marking territory, scratching an itch, or removing insects and old fur. Look for signs of these “rub trees” during your visit! pic.twitter.com/0K4UHcYIok

Photographer Julie Argyle shared footage showing a massive bison charging at the unsuspecting visitors, a dramatic reminder that ignoring wildlife rules comes with real consequences. “Volume up — Most of the time when you’re asked not to do something in Yellowstone, it’s for a good reason. Please be mindful if someone asks you not to do something. It’s usually for your own good,” Argyle wrote alongside the video.
She added that the tourists had been warned just 10 minutes earlier not to climb the hill where the bison were “roughhousing.” Ignoring that advice led to exactly what you’d expect: a full-on charge from a 2,000-pound horned powerhouse.
The incident serves as a stark—and terrifying—reminder: underestimating the raw power of wildlife can have deadly consequences. In this case, luck was on their side, but it could have ended far worse.
