Rev. Corine Mack, president of the Charlotte NAACP chapter, recently made a controversial statement to the press, repeating a long-debunked allegation about President Donald Trump — and so far, mainstream media outlets have offered little pushback.
Mack said, “We have a little man sitting in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue who really believes that Hitler was the greatest man ever on Earth, whose whole vision is to be just like Hitler … and is trying to create a 1940s Germany right here in the United States.” She added, “Like then, many people said, Well, it’s them, it’s not me.”
Her remark echoes a claim first reported by The Atlantic, based on secondhand accounts, most notably from Trump’s former Chief of Staff, Gen. John Kelly. According to these reports, Trump allegedly expressed admiration for Hitler’s generals, calling for “the kind of generals that Hitler had” who were “totally loyal” to him. Newsweek+2PolitiFact+2
Not a SINGLE mainstream news outlet covered the fact that the SITTING PRESIDENT of the NAACP in Charlotte NC said that President Trump:
