In Port St. Lucie, Florida, police released a startling video showing a teenage girl repeatedly striking a patrol car with a shovel — an unusual and alarming scene that quickly went viral online.
The footage, shared by the Port St. Lucie Police Department, shows officers arriving at a home on the 1400 block of Bartell Avenue after reports of a domestic disturbance. As officers pulled up, a teenage girl approached their vehicle wielding a shovel and began striking the hood several times.
“Are you kidding me?” one officer exclaimed in disbelief as he exited the car to confront the teen.
Police later identified the suspect as 15-year-old Amy Chance, who, according to authorities, had been causing a disturbance inside the residence prior to their arrival.
“Upon arrival, officers encountered Chance in the driveway armed with a shovel,” the department said in a statement. “She proceeded to strike the patrol car multiple times, causing over $1,200 in damage.”

Officers ordered Chance to drop the weapon while one of them held a taser ready. The teen eventually complied — but not before reportedly flipping off the officers and attempting to walk away. She was then taken into custody without further resistance.
Chance now faces a felony charge of criminal mischief for the incident.
“Regardless of age, resorting to intentional damage of people or property in our city will result in an arrest,” police said. “Thanks to the professionalism and training of our officers, Chance was taken into custody without incident.”
While the event stunned many online, it isn’t the first shovel-related confrontation to make headlines this year. In September, police in Anaheim, California, responded to a similar incident in which a man attacked an officer with a shovel outside an elementary school. That suspect was fatally shot after ignoring multiple warnings.
