A viral video posted by popular X user Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics, shows a woman openly admitting to shoplifting groceries after her food stamp benefits were reduced.

In the clip, originally shared by TikTok user @EBTofTikTok, the woman proudly displayed various stolen food items—including short ribs and cream cheese—explaining she had only $22 remaining on her EBT card and refused to pay store prices. She claimed her actions were justified under “eminent domain” and said she learned to “take it” from white men.

The woman went on to encourage others to steal from corporations, arguing that “people should’ve been doing it a long time ago.” She also advised viewers to seek money from churches for rent or assistance, and to publicly shame those that refuse on social media.

The video quickly gained millions of views and sparked widespread online discussion, with many users expressing outrage over the woman’s attitude while others pointed to the economic strain caused by the ongoing government shutdown.

The shutdown has resulted in SNAP benefit lapses affecting more than 42 million Americans, beginning November 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, Democrat Senator Chris Coons acknowledged in a recent C-SPAN interview that withholding SNAP benefits is an “unpleasant” tactic but described it as Democrats’ “only moment of leverage” against Republicans. The comments come as Democrats push to tie the reopening of the government to extensions of enhanced Obamacare subsidies.

President Donald Trump has called on Congress to prioritize relief for working families as negotiations continue.
