Posting on Instagram from her new home overseas, O’Donnell urged Americans to participate in what she called “the largest economic blackout protest in U.S. history.” The call quickly backfired, drawing thousands of angry comments from users pointing out that her stunt would primarily hurt working-class Americans, not the political figures she opposes.
PJ Media reported that social media users were quick to remind O’Donnell how disconnected her idea was from real life. One commenter fired back, “That’s so nice of you to pay my rent and car note since my check will be short a week.”

Others slammed her privilege, with one user noting, “This is great for people that are privileged enough to be able to do this. A lot of small businesses will suffer with a week of no sales, myself included. Maybe not even be able to pay rent or employees with that much revenue loss.”
