A woman in her 60s died after suffering a heart attack while riding the Haunted Mansion attraction at Disneyland, officials said.
The incident occurred Monday evening when the guest was found unresponsive at the end of the ride, according to the Orange County Register. Disneyland security administered CPR until Anaheim Fire & Rescue paramedics arrived and transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later died. The Orange County Sheriff-Coroner will determine the official cause of death, the Anaheim Police Department confirmed.
Disneyland officials stated that a guest required medical attention and was taken to a local hospital.
The Haunted Mansion, which opened in 1969, is one of Disneyland’s most iconic rides. It takes visitors through a spooky manor filled with “frights,” though the ride is low-speed and designed for attendees of all ages. According to Disneyland’s website, “The Haunted Mansion is dark and contains some mildly frightening scenes, but there is no gore. The ghostly residents are friendly and the ride is slow-moving.”
In addition to Anaheim, Haunted Mansion attractions can be found at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom in Florida, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris.
This tragic death comes just weeks after a man died from blunt force injuries while riding the Stardust Racers roller coaster at Florida’s Epic Universe theme park.
