Shocking video captured a driver ramming into an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicle in Chicago, part of a growing wave of assaults on federal law enforcement.
The incident occurred Saturday when a black SUV was recorded striking the rear of the ICE truck amid heavy traffic, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The driver then pursued the ICE vehicle, repeatedly colliding with its bumper in front of onlookers. Multiple federal agents drew their firearms in an attempt to prevent the driver from escaping. It has not yet been confirmed whether the driver was apprehended.
The attack comes shortly after Border Patrol agents were forced to fire on a gun-toting woman during a separate violent confrontation in the city. In that incident, anti-ICE protesters boxed in federal vehicles with multiple cars, prompting law enforcement to respond. Marimar Martinez, the woman with the firearm, and another driver, Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, were both arrested and designated as domestic terrorists by authorities.
“The scene became increasingly violent as more domestic terrorists gathered and began throwing smoke, gas, rocks, and bottles at DHS law enforcement,” DHS officials said. Several Border Patrol agents sustained injuries during the chaos.
“These attacks on our brave law enforcement officers must END,” DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said.

In response, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has deployed special operations teams to Chicago. “Secretary Noem has taken action to deploy additional resources to restore law and order. We will not allow domestic terrorists to attack our law enforcement,” McLaughlin added.
