The Obamas exchanged public “Happy Anniversary” posts on Friday, attempting once again to project marital harmony amid ongoing rumors of a looming split.

Speculation about divorce first gained traction last December when Michelle Obama skipped President Jimmy Carter’s funeral and later made it clear she would not attend President Trump’s inauguration.

Since then, the couple has shared a handful of affectionate social media notes, but many remain unconvinced. The Obamas are rarely seen together in public, and Michelle frequently takes thinly veiled jabs at her husband during her podcast.

Over the summer, Michelle Obama openly mocked Barack, saying she was glad she never had a son because, in her words, “he would’ve been a Barack Obama.”

Despite those barbs, Michelle marked their 33rd wedding anniversary by posting a photo of herself leaning into Barack with a caption:
“We’ve been on quite the journey over the last 33 years—and yet, I love you even more today than the day we said ‘I do.’ Happy anniversary, @BarackObama! I’m so lucky to go through life with you. ❤️”

Barack followed with his own tribute:
“The best decision I ever made was marrying you, @MichelleObama. For 33 years, I’ve admired your strength, grace, and determination — and the fact that you look so good doing it all. Happy anniversary!”
