Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating political commentator Charlie Kirk, made his first court appearance Tuesday afternoon in Utah.
Robinson stood emotionless as a judge formally read the charges against him. Prosecutors announced they will pursue the death penalty in the case.
He faces a total of seven charges:

Count 1: Aggravated murder (capital offense)

Count 2: Felony discharge of a firearm causing bodily injury

Count 3: Felony obstruction of justice (concealing the firearm used)

Count 4: Felony obstruction of justice (discarding clothing worn during the shooting)

Count 5: Witness tampering (allegedly asking a roommate to delete incriminating messages)

Count 6: Witness tampering (allegedly pressuring a transgender roommate to remain silent and avoid speaking to police)

Count 7: Committing a violent offense in the presence of a child
Robinson has been ordered held without bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 29.
