OAKLAND, CA — Armed Robbery Attempt at Cash For Gold Shop Ends in Deadly Shootout
An attempted armed robbery at a Cash For Gold shop on International Boulevard in Oakland ended in a deadly shootout Wednesday night, leaving two suspects dead and three others hospitalized. The shop owner, who was injured during the incident, is expected to recover.
Gunfire Erupts During Robbery
The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. when five individuals entered the pawn shop near 71st Avenue, reportedly attempting a robbery. According to the Oakland Police Officers’ Association, a gunfight broke out inside the store when the shop owner defended himself with his own firearm.
Authorities said a silent alarm alerted police, who arrived within five minutes. Officers found a chaotic scene with multiple people injured, spent shell casings scattered across the floor, and several firearms at the scene.
One suspect was found dead inside the store, while a second later died at the hospital. The three remaining suspects were also shot and remain hospitalized under police supervision. While officers confirmed the suspects are effectively in custody, no formal arrests had been made as of Wednesday night.
The shop owner suffered non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. Another employee was present during the robbery but was unharmed.

Oakland Mayor Barbara Lee’s office released a statement expressing frustration over the city’s ongoing violence and acknowledging the tragic loss of life.
Police confirmed that the investigation is ongoing. A press conference is scheduled for Thursday, during which authorities plan to share additional details, notify the families of the deceased suspects, and review ballistic evidence from the scene.
