Elderly Woman Assaulted During Brooklyn Home Invasion; NYPD Seeks Suspect

Police are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a 71-year-old woman’s Brooklyn apartment while she was asleep, assaulted her,  touched her privates and fled the scene with her pajama pants, authorities said Monday.

The incident occurred around 2:15 a.m. on August 30 at the woman’s residence near Berriman Street and Liberty Avenue in Cypress Hills. According to the NYPD, the suspect entered through a kitchen window.

Once inside, the man reportedly choked the woman and touched her inappropriately before running off on foot, heading south on Atkins Avenue. Police said the suspect took only the victim’s pajama pants.

The woman was taken to Kings County Hospital Center and is in stable condition, officials said.

As of Monday, the suspect remained at large. Surveillance video and images released by the NYPD show a man walking along the sidewalk wearing a dark T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and black-and-white sneakers.
