2 friends took turns wearing kevlar helmet, shooting each other, resulting in 1 death
SPRING, Texas (WKRC) — A bizarre and tragic incident in Spring, Texas left one man dead and another facing murder charges after the two friends reportedly took turns shooting at each other while wearing a Kevlar helmet.
According to a press release from Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at a home on August 17, 2025. There, they found 34-year-old Aaron Prout with a gunshot wound to the head. He was transported to the hospital, where he later died.
Initially, investigators considered the possibility of suicide, but further investigation revealed a more disturbing scenario.
“Hard to believe two, so-called friends, would take turns shooting at each other wearing a Kevlar helmet, inside a house in a residential neighborhood, while using a rifle,” Sheriff Gonzalez stated.
Authorities say the homeowner, 37-year-old Sean Odonnell, has been charged with murder in connection to Prout’s death.
The incident is still under investigation.
