Rapper Snoop Dogg is facing backlash following remarks he made about a same-sex kiss scene in Disney’s Lightyear, which he watched with his grandchild. During an appearance on the It’s Giving podcast, Snoop shared his reaction to the scene, saying it caught him off guard.
“Oh sh-t, I didn’t come in for this sh-t. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,” he said. “It f-cked me up. I’m, like, scared to go to the movies now. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh-t that I don’t have an answer for.”
The rapper continued by expressing concern over how such content might prompt difficult questions from young children: “These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer.”
The comments have drawn criticism from some in the LGBTQ community, including transgender actress and TV personality TS Madison, who addressed the remarks during an appearance on TMZ Live.
Madison described Snoop’s reaction as “homophobic” and argued that it is the responsibility of parents and grandparents to help children understand different ways of life. “I’m tired of Black men speaking out against the LGBTQ community,” Madison said, emphasizing the importance of inclusive conversations in families.
Snoop Dogg has not responded publicly to the criticism at the time of writing.
