A Houston man is facing criminal charges after shooting a suspected peeping Tom who was allegedly spying on his sister-in-law through a bathroom window — despite the intruder being armed and breaking the window.

Quintin Mitchell, 24, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault following the incident, which took place early Friday morning at the Life at Jackson Square apartments, according to KTRK-TV.

Mitchell reportedly confronted the man after his sister-in-law, Konta Davis, spotted the stranger watching her while she was getting ready for work around 5 a.m. The man initially fled after being confronted, but allegedly returned hours later, this time armed with a hammer and a butcher knife.

The suspect smashed the bathroom window, startling the family. “My mom was in the bathroom as he burst [through] the window,” Konta Davis said. “She thought somebody was shooting… She just dropped to the ground and started crawling.”

Mitchell and Davis ran outside to confront the intruder. During the confrontation, Mitchell fired a shot, hitting the suspect in the leg. The family then called police.

Despite the suspect being armed and accused of breaking into the property, Mitchell was arrested the next day.

“I definitely don’t think he deserved that,” said Derrion Davis, Mitchell’s wife. “I think he acted in self-defense — because that’s what it was.”

She also expressed frustration with how the Houston Police Department handled the case. “I literally am scared to actually be in these apartments or in this area anymore because [they] don’t take anything serious,” she told KTRK. “They just let everything go around here.”

The suspect’s identity has not been released. Police have not yet confirmed whether he will face any charges.
