You go to put your card in the scanner and the first thing that pops up is “Do you want to tip?” with suggestions from 10% to 20% to 30% on the screen with a no tip button as well.
Restaurants, coffee shops, and salons are now implementing digital devices that automatically prompt customers to leave a gratuity. iPads and other similar-style tablets are being used in place of traditional tip jars or paper receipts. Suggestions to tip this way have now become stressful.
