By Tommy Wiita,
Police in Minneapolis say a “group of five to 15 people” damaged “dozens” of vehicles overnight on residential streets in south Minneapolis.
MPD said from 12:45 to 2 a.m. Monday, officers received multiple 911 calls ranging from the 2200 block of Blaisdell Avenue to the 4200 block of Nicollet Avenue S. Other similar reports were made on Harriet Avenue, Pillsbury Avenue S., Pleasant Avenue S.,and Lyndale Avenue S.
A group fled on foot and in vehicles when officers arrived to investigate. No arrests have been made as of Monday afternoon.
The department says aside from breaking out vehicle windows, the group also appeared to rummage through and steal items from vehicles.
“MPD continues to receive and process reports of damage-to-vehicle and theft-from-vehicle from the impacted neighborhoods as individuals discover damage to their vehicles,” police said.
Anyone with a damaged vehicle in the area who hasn’t yet reported it should call 311 to file a report.
The incident remains under investigation.
