Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo has been selected to serve on a national board advising President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign ahead of the 2024 election. Judge Hidalgo is among a group of 50 prominent Democrats from across the U.S. named to the Biden-Harris campaign’s National Advisory, per a Wednesday release from the campaign.

“Board members will participate in regular media interviews, assist with fundraising efforts and events, leverage their networks and platforms to amplify the campaign’s message to voters, and engage directly with voters through grassroots efforts and events in key battleground states,” the campaign stated in a release. “This initial group represents a cross section of leaders in the Party who reflect the Biden coalition’s diversity across many facets, with more members likely to come on board as the campaign builds and grows,” they continued.

U.S. Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia, who represents the 29th District in Houston, was also selected to serve on the National Advisory Board. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will helm the board’s work to “build on and expand the winning coalition that sent President Biden to the White House in 2020” as the board’s chairperson.

Hidalgo’s nomination to the Board comes months after her reelection victory last year over challenger Alexandra del Moral Mealer following a heated campaign that vaulted the county judge’s race into the national spotlight. Vice President Kamala Harris and first lady Jill Biden even hosted events supporting the then-first-term Democrat in the final days before the 2022 election; Joe Biden invited Hidalgo to attend the White House state dinner a few weeks after the election.
