Black Waiter Forced to Serve Diners Dressed in Confederate Flags and Using N-Word
*A Black waiter in Ohio was reportedly forced to serve diners that were dressed in Confederate battle banners and using the N-word in their casual banter.
The Daily Beast reported Monday that server Arthur Mandy, 41, had to wait on the party at the Texas Roadhouse. “They completely dehumanized me,” he told the outlet, adding the party included a woman “covered head to toe” in the Confederate flag, and others wearing sweatsuits, sporting neck tattoos, and even a baby with a onesie – all bearing images of the Confederate flag.
The Daily Beast reported on the incident based on a TikTok posted last Saturday from a co-worker who goes by Nani. She exclaimed: “A party full of people wearing Confederate flag gear just tried to f—ing come eat in our restaurant. One of our Black servers had to take them.”
Nani said that Mandy’s table never spoke to him once or gave him eye contact, adding “They’re N-word this, N-word that, while he’s there at the table. They’re not even trying to be quiet. They’re not even trying to stop.”
Nani said the server had to walk outside because he got so emotional over the situation.

@love.lona It was such an intense night tonight. I was getting so mad not only because of the table but the fact i had to watch and hear them treating one of the nicest caring souls I’ve ever met that way and they were still able to stay in the restaurant. How dare you take it as far as telling your kid to shutup and not talk to your own server because he is black. The minute they started dropping the N word while the server was present at the table is the minute they shouldve been kicked out. #fyp #blm✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 ♬ original sound – Nani
Mandy later told The Daily Beast that he expected the party, an original reservation for 11 people, to be the last table in his shift. Initially, only a small group out of the 11 showed up – including a baby wrapped in a Confederate coat. Mandy said he didn’t notice what the customers were wearing until more from their party arrived and were seated.
“The rest of the party is walking in. The managers come and pull me aside and say, ‘Hey, if you have any issues with this table, let us know,’’ Mandy told The Daily Beast, adding that he finally got the full picture of what was happening when an older, male customer sat down with them. “I’m doing my spiel or whatever, things that we offer, things that we have, what he may like, and he says, ‘Well, I’ll tell you what, boy. Just get me water with lemon.’”
Mandy said that after they “dehumanized him,” he couldn’t return to the table. The diners then reportedly demanded the managers force him to return and correct their orders. He also said that while managers tried to defuse the situation, the restaurant’s white owner left early – and Mandy added he’s considering a lawsuit.
