BERKELEY, NEW JERSEY: Four girls have been suspended indefinitely after a student, 14, died by suicide hours after a video of her being bullied surfaced online. This was confirmed by the district superintendent on Thursday, February 9, 2023, however, there has been no update from the prosecutor’s office about any criminal charges the girls may face.
However, Adriana Olivia Kuch’s father Michael Kuch said that the Ocean County prosecutors told him at least three of the girls were facing criminal charges, NBC New York reported. Adriana was brutally attacked by the students at Central Regional High School in Berkeley Township. The girl died by suicide at her Bayville home on February 3.
What happened to Adriana Kuch?
The video of the attack, which surfaced on social media, shows Adriana walking down the hallway when a girl attacks her and begins walloping her in the face with a water bottle. Adriana is seen falling to the ground as she continues to be set upon by the girl. Cheering is heard in the background, NJ.com reported. By this time, the 14-year-old is lying bruised and bloodied on the floor.
The attack has not been publicly connected to her death but her father believes this is what led to her suicide. He also slammed the school for not calling the police after the attack despite his daughter, he claimed, had blacked out and was bruised. He also said the nurse was insufficient. He said he took Adriana to the cops right after the incident and said that if the school had launched an investigation into the incident and the video had been removed, her daughter may not have taken the drastic step.
‘This is a horror story’
Internet condemned the horrific bullying, with one user saying on Twitter, “Absolutely horrific! Where are their parents?” Another wrote, “Where would children learn that this is acceptable behavior?” One wrote, “Absolutely time to send the kids and teachers that saw this, did nothing, to jail. Done. Over and out!”
“This is a horror story and an unconscionable betrayal of trust by this school. It’s also another compelling reason for parental choice and the ability to escape the dystopian government school system,” wrote one user.

“How can people stand by and watch sh** like this happen, and then pull out their cell phone to tape it? They are as guilty as the ones attacking that poor girl,” one user said.
Another wrote, “All of these bullying videos going around are heartbreaking. Kids that are over 11 and constantly bullying should be arrested and seen as adults. They know what they’re doing at that age, needs to be harsher punishment for them than a week off school. Rip Adriana Kuch.”
“Rest in peace Adriana Kuch.. you were just 14 and horrible and evil people caused you to end your life. I’m sorry you couldn’t stay. I hope you are no longer in pain and I hope those people get the most vicious karma,” one said.
“I hope Adriana Kuch’s death haunts her assailants for the rest of their pathetic little lives. They are murderers. Those who stood around and laughed are complicit and are equally as vile. The person who posted the video is even worse and deserves a life of torment,” wrote one user.
