A spectator filming an intersection car “takeover” in Illinois captured the moment a woman riding in a car doing a stunt fell out of the window and was run over by the car.

The video was posted to social media and came from an incident at the corner of Cermak Road and Canalport Avenue in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago on Saturday.

It shows a woman hanging out of the passenger window of a car skidding in a circular motion in front of the large crowd. She falls out of the window and is run over by the car’s back tire.

Incidents like these prompted the Chicago City Council to pass an ordinance that would impound the cars of drivers who participate in illegal street stunts and racing, but critics say it’s not enough.

Illinois state Rep. LaShawn Ford, a Democrat, has introduced legislation that would charge those participating in illegal races and stunts with a felony, and also charge those who attend as a spectator with a felony.

“I mean, you get a felony with this and possibly lose your driver’s license – that’s the deterrent that they need,” Ford said.

WBBM-TV spoke to a person who was at the takeover incident and said that the woman had been injured, but she survived being run over by the car.

Chicago police told WBBM that they were called to the incident but had no information related to the injury that was recorded on the video.

A similar incident unfolded in Los Angeles, California, where a viral video captured a car in a takeover losing control and crashing into the crowd of spectators. One woman was killed, and police believe other people were also injured.
