A beloved pooch was found dead and skinned just three miles from where four Idaho students were brutally slaughtered, according to a report.
The 12-year-old mini Australian shepherd, Buddy, was found in late October with fur left just on his legs and face, the Daily Mail reported. The pup, which belonged to Pam and Jim Colbert, was let out of the home just 23 days before 21-year-olds Kaylee Gonclaves, Madison Mogen and 20-year-olds Ethan Chapin and Xana Kernodle were found stabbed to death in their home off campus.
Pam told the outlet that Buddy “never leaves the yard but this person grabbed Buddy.”
“It was like a deer that someone had hunted,” Pam told the Daily Mail. “They cut him around the neck and just skinned him. His little legs had fur and his little face had fur, but the rest of him was just skinned.”

“The other side of him was as though they had filleted him like they were about to eat him,” she reportedly continued. “It was terrible, unbelievable. They cut him like you filet a fish. We found his collar, but we didn’t find the pelt.”
A sheriff on the case confirmed the dog was killed by a human, according to the Daily Mail.
Jim told the outlet that before Buddy was killed, he had found a rabbit that had been scalped and its ears were cut off. A neighbor of the Colbert’s took to Facebook after the gruesome incident and said his own dog went ballistic around the same time that Buddy was killed. The neighbor, Clint Hughes, said his cat was also missing and he would be “chambering all my firearms.”
“I would suggest everyone else in North Moscow do the same.”
Authorities have not linked Buddy’s death to the students.
The four students were found dead in their home Nov. 13 after police responded to a call about an unconscious person around noon. Authorities say two other roommates were at the residence at the time of the murders and when police responded to the scene. The roommates are said to be cooperating with authorities. No suspect has been named and authorities have warned the “individual is still out there.”
