Sickos online are buying Chris Watts’s handwritten letters that describe gruesome killings

WAUPUN, WISCONSIN: Chris Watts, who is behind bars for killing his own family, reportedly wrote handwritten letters narrating the horrific murders. The letters, which describe how he took the lives of his wife and young children, are being sold online to enthusiasts, according to Andy Kahan, a Victim Advocate with Crime Stoppers.

In 2018, Watts confessed to killing his pregnant wife Shanann and his two young daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. While in prison, he wrote letters detailing how he carried out his crimes. These letters were sent to author Cheryln Cadle, who later published them in her book ‘The Murders of Chris Watts’.

According to the Daily Star, the 37-year-old wrote that he had been “thinking about killing” his wife, Shanann, for weeks. When he finally did, her “eyes filled with blood” and her face got “all black with streaks of mascara,” the letters elaborate. As for his daughters, it took him two attempts before he was able to kill them.

Andy Kahan is trying to stop the sale of the letters and other similarly horrid items. Speaking to the outlet, he said, “Like it or not, there are groups of people out here who idolize high-profile killers.”

An investigation is underway in Colorado, Watts’ native state, into the sale of the letters. Andy said, “There is absolutely nothing more nauseating and disgusting when you find out the person who murdered one of your loved ones now has items being hawked by third parties for pure profit.”

He added, “I’m fairly confident that Colorado prison officials have no idea that this stuff is going on.” Meanwhile, in the letters, Watts wrote, “August 13, morning of, I went to the girls’ room first, before Shanann and I had our argument. I went to Bella’s room, then Cece’s room and used a pillow from their bed [to kill them].”

“That’s why the cause of death was smothering. After I left Cece’s room, then I climbed back in bed with Shanann and our argument ensued,” he recalled. However, the girls woke up as he tried to dispose of his wife’s dead body. Watts writes, “After Shannan had passed, Bella and Cece woke back up. I’m not sure how they woke back up, but they did. Bella’s eyes were bruised and both girls looked like they had been through trauma.”

Watts explained that “Bella is the only one that put up a fight” as “she knew I was killing her.”

He dumped the children’s bodies in oil tanks at a site where he worked and buried Shanann, who was 15 weeks pregnant, in a shallow grave.
