Diary of disturbing disinformation and dangerous delusions

We say: Talk about a click-desperate, left-wing network! MSNBC raises alarms of a “horrifying” white-supremacist plot but cites just a single ex-Marine nabbed on gun charges who, feds say, sought to kill minorities and rape whites to boost the white population. Columnist Cynthia Miller-Idriss’ scaremongering then suggests “the loss of Roe” would’ve helped this plot (at least in states that ban abortion even for rape). Please: There’s no evidence — none — of any such imminent, serious, widescale plot, and the connection to Roe is laughable. Black women have had abortions at many times the rate of whites, so if anything, the overturning of Roe could hurt white supremacists’ goals.

Flashback:

“It happens every single, solitary year: There is a significant increase in the number of people coming to the border in the winter.”

— President Biden, March 25, 2021

We say: Biden’s claim that the migrant surge early last year was merely a “seasonal” trend is proving just as preposterous as the claim that inflation is “transitory.” Even in the months Biden was referring to back then, the numbers of migrants crossing the border were higher than during other winters, and instead of dropping, they’ve headed up ever since. Fiscal year 2022 is now on pace to top last year’s record number, passing 2 million for the first time ever.

We say: Some 37 million Americans call themselves Republicans. Is their party really more “dangerous” and “contemptible” than, say, the Chinese Communist Party, which murders its own people? Or Iran’s terror-sponsoring theocracy? Or Russia’s war-waging, nuke-threatening thugocracy? Bad enough Financial Times editor Edward Luce would post something as lunatic as this, yet for a former CIA director, Gen. Michael Hayden, to “agree” is beyond appalling. Then again, Hayden also suggested The Post’s 100% true scoop on Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation.” Take anything he says with a grain of salt.

Spot the difference:

Jackson, Barrett
NY Post composite

We say: Vogue’s take on liberal Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court appointment couldn’t have been more fawning, but good luck trying to find a nice word about conservative Amy Coney Barrett in the outlet’s treatment of her rise.

This vow:

“No one earning less than $400,000 a year will pay a penny more federal tax.” — President Biden, Tuesday

We say: In fact, the Congressional Joint Committee on Taxation found that under the Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act (which no one thinks will reduce inflation), taxes will jump by $16.7 billion in 2023 for Americans making less than $200,000 and $14.1 billion for those earning between $200,000 and $500,000. Plus, stiff new taxes on businesses will be passed on to consumers of all incomes in the form of higher prices and to workers via lower wages. And let’s not get started on Biden’s inflation tax, which has already sliced real incomes by 3%.
