Woman takes cops on wild chase through Florida golf course
Florida sheriff’s deputies could be seen on video during a high-speed chase with an SUV on a golf course — weaving around golf carts and confused golfers.
The daylight police dashcam footage, posted to Facebook by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office, shows the SUV in a futile attempt to flee from cops in the middle of the wide-open fairways on Grand Harbor golf course in Vero Beach.
The footage also shows a strange arrest sparked when one sheriff’s office vehicle makes contact with the SUV.
The vehicle goes spinning as a second vehicle boxes in the SUV. A woman jumps out of the driver’s seat of the SUV yelling and appearing agitated while wearing a revealing red jump suit, the footage shows.
When deputies tell her to get on her knees, she complies – but bizarrely appears to use her cellphone, appearing to briefly try to text someone or use an app before she is forced to the ground.
Jodi Ann Harvey, 60, was identified as the driver and she was slapped with charges including DUI, criminal mischief, and aggravated assault on an officer.
Sheriff’s deputies had tried to pull over Harvey at just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, but she wouldn’t stop her vehicle and instead tried to flee by barreling through the gates at Grand Harbor, according to the social media post.
There were no injuries, the post said.
