Phoenix man punched barber over “bad” haircut, police say

PHOENIX (3TV/CBS 5) – Police say a Phoenix man assaulted his barber because he did not like his haircut. Officers arrested Lorenzo Malik Harewood Monday evening.

“Lorenzo was not given his money back and he proceeded to punch the victim in the mouth,” the probable cause for arrest statement reads. Police say he punched the victim “an unknown number of times.”

Officers say Harewood, 25, ripped a necklace off the victim’s neck and then ran out of the shop, dropping the chain along the way. Court documents say Harewood hit another car as he pulled out of the parking lot onto Thomas road just east of 44th Street.

Police arrested Harewood on suspicion of robbery, which is a class 4 felony. He was released on his own recognizance and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 22.

Under Arizona law, a first conviction on a class 4 felony carries a presumptive sentence of 2.5 years in prison. The minimum sentence is 1.5 years.
