A man was in critical condition Saturday after leaping from a Brooklyn building, police said.
The victim, 27, apparently jumped from a fourth-floor balcony at Lorimer St. near Meserole St. in East Williamsburg around 3 a.m., according to cops.
They found the bloodied victim, who was naked, sprawled out on the sidewalk in front of the building, suffering from multiple broken bones and internal injuries.
“I heard like loud popping noises,” said one building resident, who would only identify herself as Isabella. “At first I thought it was gunshots but I was like, ‘No, gunshots are a lot louder.’ Then the next thing I hear is people screaming outside.”
“Oh my God! I think he might still be alive! Please be alive!” someone screamed, Isabella recalled.
EMS rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where he remained in critical condition Saturday afternoon. His name was not immediately disclosed.
The man was visiting a building tenant and was throwing furniture and other items off the balcony before falling himself, Isabella said.
“The popping noises that I heard was him throwing all the furniture and plants and stuff off of the balcony and that last thud was his body,” she remembered. “I’m like shaking right now with just everything that happened. I couldn’t sleep.
“I really hope that guy is okay,” she said.
I hate litterbugs. Hope this one learned his lesson.
